We have several litters per year, spaced throughout the year but mostly in the spring and summer, and occasionally a few in the fall.
Our breeding dogs are carefully selected based on temperament, health, genetic testing, and conformation.
We have all of the colors and patterns! Dapples, Piebalds, Brindles, and English creams. Please ask about availability if you have something specific in mind!
Health care and socialization: All of the puppies are born in our house, and stay in the house until at least 4-5 weeks of age. At that time they are often moved out to a larger space where they have more room to run and play. They are socialized and handled daily.
Pups are dewormed every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks of age. They will have at least 2 Parvo vaccines before they leave here, and every pup is microchipped with an AKC microchip that can be traced back to me for it’s lifetime if necessary, (even though you will register that chip to you after you purchase the puppy). I strongly believe in responsible breeders taking lifelong responsibility for the puppies they produce, and this is the best way to do it.
Puppies have a wellness exam before going home, and a health record is provided.
Registration: Our puppies are bred primarily for pets and to provide people with a healthy companion with a wonderful personality.
Our puppies are sold for breeding occasionally. I will consider selling a breeding quality puppy to a reputable breeder. Pups for breeding must have a clear genetic panel, and be something that I consider as breeding quality. I don’t just add money to the price of any puppy and sell it with “full rights“, just to get extra $$ !
All of our adult dogs are registered with the AKC, so that means that all puppies are also eligible for AKC registration. Pet puppies are only eligible for the AKC Limited registration, and that application will ONLY be provided by request, if you want to have the registration to compete in AKC events such as obedience, agility, earthdog or field trials. This is because only about 5 % of people ever send in their dogs registration application.
AKC does have a lot of fun activities to enter your dachshund in if you are interested. Limited registration is good for all events, but not for conformation shows or breeding dogs. Please ask if you have questions about this.
Getting your puppy: Puppies go home at approximately 8 weeks of age. They will be eating well, completely weaned from mom, and healthy at the time that they leave. They will be litter box and potty pad trained.
The puppies will be eating Pro Plan puppy food- Lamb and Rice. I have fed Pro Plan to all of my dogs since it first came out in 1986. Not to say I haven’t tried a lot of others over the years, but I've never found anything that worked as well. The dogs do well, look good, stay healthy, and live a long time.
Health Insurance: I highly recommend that you get health insurance for your new puppy. Veterinary bills for illness, injury, and surgery are very expensive and out of most peoples' budgets right now.
Trupanion pet insurance is a very good company and they offer a Breeders program which I am a part of. You can get a Go Home Day certificate from me, which will allow you to get your puppy covered immediately, without the usual 30 day waiting period. So the pup will be covered the day you take them home!
There are a lot of other insurance options too, so please research this ahead of time if possible!
