Cimarron Farm is located in SW Washington State, between Seattle and Portland, just a few miles off of I-5.
We have lived on our quiet and spacious 21 acres since 2007. The farm is run by myself, Laura Steward DVM, and my daughter Jessica.
I have had a lifelong love of animals, and always knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. I grew up in Seattle, graduated from the old Queen Anne High School, and then went to WSU for undergrad and Veterinary School.
I have been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since the 80’s, showing in and titling in AKC conformation shows, hunting tests, agility and obedience trials, herding trials, and working certificates. I have also judged at several specialty shows for Labradors. I bred Labrador Retrievers and Australian Cattle Dogs under the Cimarron kennel name for many years, and now have longhair dachshunds! Our Labradors were well known for having amazing temperaments and very healthy, long lives. In 2023 we made the difficult decision to fully retire from breeding the Labs, but the same things are very important to me in my dachshunds, and guide us in our breeding program.
I have also had a lifetime love of horses, and my younger daughter Jessica has been a part of that since she was young. We currently have a small group of AQHA Quarter Horses, mostly cow horse and speed lines, and have 2-3 foals each spring. While Jessica has a focus on training barrel horses, we enjoy breeding for athleticism, temperament, and trainability that will allow our horses to excel in many directions.
